Byas municipality offers discount on kiosk rent

TANAHUN:  Byas Municipality has decided to waive two months’ rent for the kiosk runners in view of the lockdown imposed to stem COVID-19 spread.

The municipality decided to provide discount taking the woes being faced by the shopkeepers and entrepreneurs into consideration with the lockdown.

The municipality discounted the rent for two months- Chait and Baisakh. The executive meeting of the municipality held on Monday took this decision after it was requested by the shopkeepers that they incurred loss in business, according to Spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha.

The municipality has given in rent its new building and shutters at Damauli bazaar. With the discount decision, the entrepreneurs do not need to pay Rs 2.6 million in total.

The municipality has already urged the landlords to provide discount on the room rent to the tenants. Meanwhile, the executive meeting decided to present the Environment Inspection and Management Act, 2077 in its assembly for the study.

The Act is made for the management and utilization of the natural resources and construction of development activities.
