I stand by my preconceptions; no discussion on Dahal’s proposal: PM Oli (with full text)

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli, who preferred to remain absent in the Standing Committee, sent a letter saying he decided not to attend the meeting as he thought it inappropriate to discuss the political document tabled Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda’.

Sending a letter to the Standing Committee meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Oli reiterated that Executive Chairman Prachanda’s dossier formerly presented before NCP Secretariat cannot be discussed in Standing Committee (SC) meeting.

It may be recalled that PM Oli and Prachanda had last week tabled their respective proposals in the Secretariat meeting of the party accusing one another for the current dispute.

The Secretariat had on Saturday sent the documents to the Standing Committee for discussion.

PM Oli had been reiterating that Prachanda’s proposal cannot be discussed demanding that the document be withdrawn.

On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, considered PM Oli’s confidant, read out PM Oli’s letter, party’s spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said.

In his letter, PM Oli has reiterated that Chairman Dahal must withdraw his political proposal tabled during the Secretariat meeting without any condition.

He has also alleged Dahal of working toward dissolution of the party by putting forth what he said “allegation paper” against him.

In the letter, PM Oli has also reiterated his determination of keeping the party unity intact and run the party on the basis of consensus.

According to him, the ongoing intra-party rift has to be resolved through dialogue. The party, he continued, should remain intact since there are only four months to hold the party’s general convention.

Likewise, the documents of both PM Oli and Prachanda were distributed in today’s meeting.

The next meeting of the Standing Committee will meet on December 13.

According to NCP sources, PM Oli who had been unwilling to let the proposal be made an agenda for Sunday’s SC meeting, refused to take part in the SC meeting that took place on Sunday afternoon.

The source informed that, PM Oli’s letter was read out in the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister and Secretariat member Ishwor Pokhrel.

“I stand by my preconceptions about the document presented by party chairman Prachanda. It cannot be discussed in the Standing Committee meeting,” the source quoted the letter said to have read by Pokhrel in the Secretariat meeting.” “Hence, I cannot be present in the meeting.”

NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha also confirmed that PM Oli did not turn in the SC meeting due to his preconception that Chairman Prachanda’s  dossier is not worth discussing the party’s SC meeting.

Despite PM Oli’s objection to the meeting, SC meeting was held at NCP Office Dhumbarahi.
