China must adhere to international law over HK citizenship route: UK

LONDON: Britain has suggested China to adhere to the international law, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesperson has said.

The United Kingdom has offered a path to citizenship for some 3 million people in Hong Kong — its former colony — after announcing that China had “broken the terms of a 1984 handover treaty” with the enforcement of new security law.

Britain believes that they have set out what they will be providing for British Nationals Overseas, and said they would expect Beijing to understand the importance of adhering to international law.
