Public vehicles flout health safety measures



BAGLUNG: Public vehicles in Baglung are found to have been flouting health and safety measures despite the increasing spread of coronavirus in the district.

According to a monitoring team comprising the Transport Management Office, District Administration Office and District Police Office, both the drivers and passengers were found have been reckless on adopting safety measures.

The team monitored vehicles at Maldhunga, the border of Maglung and Parbat on Saturday, and at Ratmata along the Mid-Hill Highway.

As many as 155 vehicles were checked by the team. The team official said 23 percent vehicles were carrying more passengers than the assigned by the authorities.

No physical distance was maintained, the team members said.

Likewise, some passengers, drivers and their helpers were found not wearing face masks.

Similarly, almost drivers and their helpers also were not wearing visor and gloves, according to Chief of Transport Management Office, Parsing Thapa.

He said that 15.67 percent vehicles did not have sanitizers.

Likewise, some drivers were also found to be overcharging passengers.

Thapa said that vehicles carrying more than 50 percent passengers, those without legitimate documents, and fleecing passengers would face action.
