2,642 foreigners repatriated from Nepal after lockdown so far



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,642 foreigners have been repatriated from Nepal till Saturday after Nepal enforced lockdown to ward off the spread of COVID-19.

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) states the number doesn’t include Indian and Chinese nationals.

According to NTB Chief Executive Office Dhananjay Regmi, 1,050 foreigners were evacuated through four chartered flights only on Saturday.

Germany, France, Malaysia and Singapore had sent chartered flights to Kathmandu to evacuate their citizen today.

The NTB stated that citizens from 60 counties are still in Nepal. They are staying at 350 hotels in 33 districts.

“1,378 tourists are still in Nepal. Some of them have arrived in Kathmandu. We are working to repatriate them,” said CEO Regmi.
