One dies of electrocution in Old Naikap



KATHMANDU: A 29-year-old man of Chandragiri-14, Old Naikap has died of electrocution on Friday.

According to SP Somendra Singh Rathore of Kathmandu Police Circle Teku, Surendra Maharjan, 29, of Chandragiri-14, Old Naikap died due to electrocution at the under-contruction building of Chandragiri Youth Club.

SP Rathore informed that Maharjan passed away while undergoing treatment at the Kalanki-based Sahid Memorial Hospital on Friday.

Despite the objection of the Municipality, the locals and the youths had carried out the construction of the Youth Club building disregarding the warnings from Ward Office, Electricity Office and the Municipality.

After the incident, the irate locals have stone-pelted at Ward Chairman Ram Hari Basnet’s house blaming him for not stopping the act despite knowing the risk.

It is said that Chairman Basnet had opposed the Chandragiri Youth Club’s proposal of constructing the club building under High Extension Line.
