Oli, Prachanda make another bid to hammer out consensus

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and Prime Minister KP Oli are holding another round of talks to forge a consensus to settle the rift in the party.

At the meeting underway at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday evening, senior leader Jhalanath Khanal and Deputy Parliamentary Party leader Subas Nembang are also present, said Press Advisor to PM Oli, Surya Thapa.

During the talks held on Monday, PM Oli had insisted on addressing the issue at the Secretariat level, Chairman Prachanda had reiterated his stance of convening the meeting of the Standing Committee (SC).

Dahal and Oli had on Sunday engaged in a heated exchange of words alleging one another for the imbroglio particularly about the “unilateral” postponement of last week’s Standing Committee (SC) meeting despite the fact the Dahal camp went ahead with the meeting sans PM Oli and his close ones.

The Dahal camp has been alleging PM Oli for making unilateral decisions and not heeding to the party directives.

It should be noted that the Dahal camp had labeled the “unilateral” postponement of the SC meeting as “unfortunate”. PM Oli had soon expressed serious concern over the allegation on him.
