KATHMANDU: Three Chief District Officers (CDO) of the Kathmandu Valley have decided to formally apprise the High Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 on incidences of lockdown violations, including opening of shops on Thursday.
They have also decided to suggest the government to relax the lockdown.
Shops and stores in several parts of Kathmandu, including major business hub, New Road, opened today violating the ongoing lockdown enforced by the government.
People, particularly businessmen and daily wageworkers have been asking the government to change the modality of lockdown claiming that the lockdown has adversely affected people’s normal life and the economic activities.
Several trading houses, and retail shops have also resumed their operations in Kathmandu.
The meeting of three CDOs of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur discussed the matter on Thursday.
Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, Narayan Prasad Bhatta said, “Since we do not have the authority to decide on relaxation of the lockdown, we have decided to apprise it to the high-level committee. We are merely implementing authorities.”
