Training for doctors, technicians on COVID-19 safety

CHITWAN: A training session for doctors and technicians working at COVID-19 laboratories in Bagmati Province has begun in Chitwan district.

Organized by the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), Teku, the training session focuses on biological safety, introduction of personal safety equipment, sterilization of equipment, intensity of biological safety, sample collection, safety procedures to be adopted during supply of equipment, garbage management and detail collection and update, it has been said.

Inaugurating the training session amid a function here, Dr Bhoj Raj Adhikari, chairperson of Bharatpur Hospital Development Committee, said there has been reforms in the management of laboratories lately.

Stating that more than 10 percent of the population of the district received PCR tests for the infection, he praised the government for its work to prevent and control the virus.

On the occasion, medical superintendent and officiating chief of the hospital, Dr Jagannath Tiwari said three PCR test laboratories  in the district have helped control the infection.

Thirty-five doctors and technicians have participated in the two-day training. Trainers are Dr Mahesh Adhikari of the NPHL and Dr Nitu Adhikari, chief of Bharatpur Hospital COVID-19 Laboratory.
