US citizen arrested in Nepal for swindling Rs one million



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an American citizen from the Capital City on the charge of swindling Rs one million on the pretext of registering a company in the United States.

The arrested is Daniel Lee Maggie, a US citizen with a permanent address in North Las Vegas.

A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division nabbed him from his hideout in Chhetrapati, Kathmandu.

According to the police, Daniel has defrauded Tuk Narayan Shrestha of Suryabinayak Municipality-6 of Rs one million by claiming that he would register the Koteshwor-based Atlas Security Pvt in the USA.

Police further said that Daniel was trying to defraud Sujan Thapa and Sandeep Karki of Rs 500,000 each by saying that he would take them to the US on business visas.
