Dahal, Nepal meet to chalk out strategy for Secretariat meeting



KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal met on the eve of Secretariat meeting slated for Saturday.

During the meeting held at leader Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor on Friday, they discussed how to present themselves in the Secretariat meeting to be held tomorrow and when to summon the meeting of Standing Committee.

Interestingly, the meeting was held after the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, called on both the leaders and discussed Nepal’s current political developments, particularly the NCP row, which has touched a new height of late.

Twenty Standing Committee members of the party had written a letter to Chairman duo KP Oli and Dahal demanding a meeting.

During a Secretariat meeting held on Wednesday, leaders including Chairman Dahal and senior leader Nepal had pressured the Prime Minister Oli to resign from the post.

PM Oli had said he would resign once the coronavirus pandemic subsides and had proposed Vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam as the Prime Minister.

Similarly, he had proposed leader Nepal as the party Chairman.
