KABUL: Pakistani militants frequently attack U.S. troops and coalition forces in Afghanistan. The US war in Afghanistan has already lasted more than a decade costing both blood and money from the treasury.

It is the longest war in American history completing 17 years this month. The US patience appears to be wearing thin as Trump administration has renewed its efforts for a peace deal with the Afghan Taliban.

President Donald Trump’s administration is desperate to end the war and Taliban giving a positive hint to their exit. However, Pakistan, to get a maximum bargain from the US Government, is constantly trying to play dirty tricks by provoking Taliban to side with its home-grown terrorists to attack both Afghani and US troops.

The Taliban has confirmed on Wednesday today that they were close to an agreement with US officials on a deal that would see US forces withdraw from Afghanistan.

In return, the Taliban has promised that Afghanistan would not become a haven for international militants referring to Pakistan sponsored terrorists. The Haqqani network – an Afghan guerrilla insurgent group with the active support of Pakistan’s military and terrorist groups has been using asymmetric warfare to fight against the US forces and elected Afghan government.

The Haqqani network had pledged allegiance to the Taliban in 1995 and again looking forward to wiping out the gains of democracy by setting up a medieval version of Islamic rule. Recent terror attacks in Afghanistan have not stopped even as peace talks are continuing between the Afghan Taliban and the United States.

Terrorist groups are still active in the country and the United States looks all set to leave the country. Al-Qaeda, the Haqqani Network (Miranshah Shura Taliban), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (non-ISKP faction), and the Turkestan Islamic Party and others nearly 20 other regionally and globally focused groups are active in Afghanistan.

Will the Taliban be able to stop them? Or the Taliban will shake hands with them taking active support from Pakistan establishment to establish? Afghanistan government has already informed the UNO (United Nations Organization) with regard to terrorist activities with the support Pakistani establishment on its eastern border thereby foiling the hope of the US government for a safe exit.
