Taliban reject talks with Afghan government



KABUL: The Taliban have rejected direct talks with the Afghan government, international media reports have said.

A senior Taliban leader said they would not hold direct talks with the Afghan government, and rejected a statement from an Afghan minister about the government’s plans to hold a meeting within the next two weeks.

A spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, Suhail Shaheen, said talks can start the government announces withdrawal of the foreign force from the country.

Afghan state minister for peace affairs Abdul Salam Rahimi had on Saturday said that a 15-member delegation would hold direct talks with the Taliban in the ‘coming two weeks’. (Agencies)
