KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Forest and Environment has forwarded the national adaptation plan to reduce the climate change vulnerabilities.

The Ministry held a capacity building workshop with the stakeholders and experts on Tuesday as part of the preparation of the plan. Earlier, such discussions were held in each State to garner views from the stakeholders.

Inaugurating the workshop, Minister for Forest and Environment, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, informed that the workshop would be helpful to collect views and share experiences on reducing the climate change effects, which has emerged as a serious threat to Nepal. He pointed out the need of collaboration among government mechanism, non-government organization and civil society to this regard.

Similarly, Chair of the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee under the National Assembly, Taradevi Bhatta, viewed that the plan should be effectively implemented. It needs to incorporate the issues relating to the natural disasters, she suggested.

Member of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, said human activities are behind the pollution of land and air. Every citizen can contribute to the climate change adaptation plan, he added.
