APF clinches CoAS women’s football title

KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) Club won the 7th CoAS International Women’s football tournament.

APF defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 2-0 to clinch the title.

In the final match held at the NA headquarters ground in Bhadrakali on Wednesday, Saru Limbu and Rekha Poudel of APF scored one goal each in the 6th and 89th minute respectively.

With the win, the APF team received Rs 300,000 in cash along with a trophy. Similarly, TAC received a cash prize of Rs. 150,000.

CoAS Purna Chandra Thapa, Nepal Olympic Committee Chair Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Inspector General of APF Sailendra Khanal gave away prizes and certificates to the winners, runner-up and the joint-third teams.

Nepal Police Club and Bhutan Club came third in the tournament.

Dipa Rai of TAC was adjudged the best player of the tournament.

She bagged a Yamaha scooter along with the title.

The tournament had kicked off on December 15.

Along with APF, TAC, NPC, teams from province no. 1, 2, and 5, and from Sikkim of India and Bhutan had competed in the tournament.
