NRA delists over 4,000 beneficiaries of housing grant

BHAKTAPUR: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has removed 4,247 survivors of the earthquake of 2015 of the district from the housing grant list citing they failed to reach an agreement in this regard on time.

The NRA district office has set July 6 as a deadline to strike a housing grant agreement, and the registered quake victims are bound to receive the first tranche of the grant by July 16.

The delisted quake survivors include also those who reached a grant agreement but failed to receive the first tranche of the grant, said Bhojraj Bhatt, information officer at the office.

However, the NRA could review its action if the beneficiaries file a complaint with the respective local level citing valid reasons for their failure to reach a grant agreement, said a NRA employee, Dhurba Gaida. Out of the total 28,414 registered quake survivors in the district, 24,515 have reached a housing grant agreement, he said.
