PHC seeks complaints against Nirala

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) on Tuesday announced public complaints against senior advocate Laxmi Bahadur ‘Nirala’ who was proposed a member of the Judicial Council (JC) by the government.

Nirala served as an Attorney General during the direct rule of King Gyanendra Shah.

The government had on Monday nominated Nirala for the vacant post in the JC.

A meeting of the PHC today sought complaints against Nirala within the next ten days beginning from tomorrow.

Chairperson of the committee Laxman Lal Karna said that a proposed member can be eligible for appointment after discussing the received complaints.

The post of a JC member has been lying vacant since December 4 after the resignation of former member Padam Baidik.
