Recovery of dead bodies of capsized boat is still on from Lake Albert

KAMPALA: Ugandan authorities are continuing the search for 15 missing people on Lake Albert after a boat carrying more than 50 football players and fans from the western Uganda district of Hoima was upturned on May 20, Monday.

In similar incident, about 30 footballers and fans were drowned after their boat capsized on Lake Albert in 2016.

A joint marine unit is combing the water for extracting dead bodies. The lake region of Africa witnesses heavy traffic, overcrowded boat and absence of rescue team with expert swimmers.

Around 140 people drowned last month in Lake Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo and 228 people drowned in Lake Victoria in Tanzania.
