Huawei refutes news reports of spying allegations

KATHMANDU: Huawei, a provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and devices, has refuted reports of its alleged involvement in the hacking of Nepal government’s important government websites and its involvement in any spying activities.

Issuing a statement on Friday, Huawei said that the news report published by Khabarhub on May 20 which reported its partnership with China Communication Services International (CCSI) in Nepal is ‘untrue’. “The China Communication Services International (CCSI) is not the subsidiary of Huawei,” it said. “We reject any suggestion that we might pose a threat to national security,” the statement issued by Huawei said.
