COLOMBO: Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who won the elections on Sunday to become new President of Sri Lanka has announced his brother ‘Mahinda Rajapaksa’ as the new Prime Minister of the country..

His elder brother Mahinda Rajapaksa has served as the President of Sri Lanka from 2005-2014.

Rajapaksa stormed to victory on Sunday after he defeated opposition candidate Premadasa by over 13 lakh votes. The 70-year-old took the oath as seventh President of Sri Lanka on Monday.
