Tharu museum at Bhalka to be opened to visitors

KANCHANPUR: The Tharu Ethnographic Museum at Bhalka, Shuklaphanta Municipality-8 in Kanchanpur district is to be opened for the foreign and domestic visitors targeting the Visit Nepal Year 2020.

A traditional house reflecting the Tharu architecture and furnishing has been constructed for the museum. The house has been constructed with support from the municipality ward office. Arrangements have been made for installing solar lights at the museum.

Similarly, various articles and artifacts related to the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the Tharu peoples have started to be kept at the museum. The tribal chieftains of 12 Tharu villages have been assigned the responsibility of collecting such articles and artifacts which the Tharus have been using for ages.

“We will make the museum ready before the commencement of the Visit Year. The museum would be inaugurated during our big festival, Maghi, which falls in mid-December,” said the Ward chair.
