KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has clarified that his party was not against legal action on guilty and was for rule of law.

Issuing a statement on Saturday, Deuba said he was not against the rule of law.

“NC that believes in the rule of law can’t stand against police investigation,” he said in a statement, adding that the party will help to investigate the case against suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam if proceeded without a prejudice.

Earlier on Friday, Deuba was severely criticized for saying that the government arrested its suspended lawmaker Alam over a political prejudice.
