CIAA forms committee to probe into Pathak bribery case



KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has formed a three-member probe committee to investigate into the bribery case involving Raj Narayan Pathak, CIAA Commissioner who resigned on Friday.

CIAA Spokesperson Rameshwor Dangal said the probe committee, which has been formed look into the corruption allegation against Pathak, is headed by a joint secretary.

According to CIAA officials, the Article 239 (3) of the constitution can be interpreted that the CIAA can initiate action against the office bearer of a constitutional body if he or she is removed through impeachment.

Pathak has been alleged of receiving Rs 7.8 million in bribe in a video leak to settle a case related to a land of the Nepal Engineering College.
