Govt spends only 6% of capital expenditure in 4 months

KATHMANDU: The government has spent only Rs 225 billion as of mid-November. Of the total expenditure incurred, 196 billion is the current expenditure while the capital expenditure is put at Rs 24.680 billion.

The economic growth has plummeted to 7.1 percent, 1.5 percent less than the set target. Meanwhile, the government has spent Rs 4.27 billion for the topic of financial management.

As per the existing act, the government has to spend 25 percent of current expenditure and over 15 percent of capital expenditure as of mid-November.

The government has spent 20.55 percent of current expenditure and only 6.6 percent of capital expenditure so far.

Of the total 1 trillion 532 billion 960 million allocated for the fiscal year 2019/20, 9 trillion, 57 billion and 100 million has been allocated for current expenditure, 4 trillion, 8 billion for capital expenditure while 1 trillion and 67 billion have allocated for the financial management.
