Outgoing Speaker Mahara shifted to CCU

KATHMANDU: Outgoing Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, currently under police custody, has been shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Norvic Hospital on Friday.

Mahara was shifted to CCU following a sudden spike in his blood pressure, according to doctors attending to the leader. The doctors said that angiography was performed on him to found out a blockage in his heart.

Mahara has been facing charges over sexual misconduct. Roshani Shahi, a female employee at Parliament Secretariat, had filed an attempt to rape case against Mahara.

Mahara was arrested from his official residence in Baluwatar on October 6 after Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant against him for allegedly raping Shahi.
