CHITWAN: Five people were arrested in Chitwan on Saturday, in course of the demonstration that took place after TV program presenter Rabi Lamichhane was arrested. Lamichhane was arrested in connection with the death of journalist Shalikram Pudasaini.

The five were arrested for anarchical conduct and pelting stones at police, according to DSP of Chitwan Eknarayan Koirala. Stating that those arrested will face action as per the law, DSP Koirala said the demonstration would not in any way affect the investigation.

The demonstration has taken place on Friday as well. Mountain Television journalist Pudasaini was found hanging inside a hotel in Chitwan on August 5.

Prior to the alleged suicide, Pudasaini had recorded a video naming News24 journalist Lamichhane, journalist Yubaraj Kandel and Asmita Karki of Okhaldhunga. Hence, police arrested Lamichhane from Kathmandu and brought him to Chitwan.

They were presented before the Chitwan Court on Friday, which has remanded them to five days in judicial custody.
