Central Security Committee meeting underway at Home Ministry

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Central Security Committee is currently underway at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting began at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Chaired by Home Minister Sudan Gurung, who also serves as chairperson of the Central Security Committee, the meeting is being attended by senior officials from all four security agencies.

Gurung, who was reappointed Home Minister on Tuesday in the Balendra Shah-led government, convened the meeting shortly after assuming office for a second time.

Following Gurung’s resignation, Prime Minister Balendra Shah had taken charge of the Home Ministry portfolio. During that period, security agency chiefs were unable to brief a designated departmental minister on the country’s latest law-and-order and security situation.

Friday’s meeting marks the first Central Security Committee meeting since Gurung’s return as Home Minister.
