NC threw childish tantrums at House, laments PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli on Tuesday came down heavily on Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, saying that it exhibited an unruly behavior by not allowing him to address the House.

Speaking at a press conference organized at his office in Singha Dubar this evening, the prime minister christened the behavior as childish tantrums.

“NC became adamant that its party’s president should be allowed to speak first while it was already set that I will address first,” he said,” Not only that, the party obstructed the house proceeding by picketing the rostrum.”

The prime minister said that there is an international practice of prime minister speaking first and then the main opposition leader.

“The NC president should be aware of parliamentary decorum,” he lamented.

On the controversial Guthi Bill, the prime minister said that the bill was being brought to protect Nepali culture.

“Religious and private guthis in Kathmandu are associated with our culture. The bill was being brought to protect them,” he said,” But, it was publicized in a way that the government is attempting to wipe out the agelong culture and tradition.”

Referring to recent protests, the prime minister said that the government was already ready to resolve issues through dialogue, adding the government will always work for the benefit of the people.

On a separate note, PM Oli expressed his concerns over diminishing social values, courteousness and modesty in social media.
