KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress party on Sunday obstructed the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting protesting the attack on NC Banke district president Kiran Koirala last week.

The party obstructed the parliament alleging Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa of failing to furnish a satisfactory explanation to the incident.

The NC has been alleging the cadres of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for attacking Koirala.

Earlier, Home Minister Thapa had tried to explain the incident saying that some NCP cadres might have been involved in the attack.

Home Minister Thapa ruled out party’s involvement in the attack.

Even though the Home Minister vowed to take legal action against those involved in the attack, NC lawmakers continued to protest by standing up from their respective seats.

Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara then halted the parliamentary session for 10 minutes.
