Nine persons go missing in landslide

DOLPA: At least nine people have gone missing in the landslide that occurred at Mudkechula rural municipality, wards 1, 2 and 3 on Saturday.

One among the missing has been found dead. Four out of the missing are children, said Mukesh Kumar Keshari, Chief District Officer of Dolpa. Among the missing are Dharupa Bohora, Bichitra Bohora, Sarika Basnet and Nirmal Bohora.

The rain-induced landslide that occurred at around 2:00 pm today swept away the minors. The landslide has also swept away the houses of ward chair Bhanubhakta Bohora and Junga Bahadur Bohora. Dhanraj Bohora, 43, elder brother of ward chair Bhanubhakta Bohora, was also found dead.

Dan Bahadur Shahi, rural municipality chair, said that more than 25 families of the area are at risk of landslide. A police team has reached the incident site for rescue and relief support.
