KATHMANDU: Members of the CPN-UML Central Committee have expressed their views on party Chair KP Sharma Oli’s political report and other issues on the second day of the ongoing Central Committee meeting.
UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet said 96 members presented their views during Tuesday’s meeting in Lalitpur. He claimed that although some members criticized the chair’s report, most supported it.
Basnet said the report correctly analyzed the current national and international context, highlighted problems within the party, appropriately interpreted what he described as the current government’s wrongdoings, and set out the party’s future direction.
He said party reorganization did not mean changing the chair or leadership, adding that the party’s policy was to further strengthen and establish its leadership rather than weaken it at a time when the party and its leadership were facing attacks.
He said the party would be organized as a cadre-based organization by further strengthening its organizational structure and sister organizations.
Basnet said the meeting would conclude with a commitment to establish the UML as a more united, consolidated, strong and improved party under strong leadership.
The UML Central Committee meeting is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.
