KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Vice President and Former Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi has  warned of stringent actions against the government over the Media Council Bill.

Talking to journalists in Janakpur on Tuesday, Nidhi said his party would hit the streets if the government did not withdraw the controversial bill.

Meanwhile, Nidhi claimed that the government intentionally brought the media bill to gag the freedom of expression and freedom of the press, thereby undermining the Press Council Nepal.
