NCP, CPC agree to expand mutual relations at all levels



KATHMANDU: Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping met the top leaders of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to expand the scope and dimension of political relations at the government, people and the Communist party-level.

During his meeting with the NCP chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and party secretariat members as the capacity of General Secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese President stated that they had an enormous support from the Chinese people due to their success to lead the people and nation on the right track, and the same goodwill had been established as the people’s authority and had become popular.

On the occasion, the Chinese President congratulated Nepal for its political achievements, development endeavors and its distinct efforts assuring of China’s support in Nepal’s development endeavors, NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha who also attended the meeting told the RSS.

“The friendly relations between Nepal and China should be further strengthened. We have a good relationship since the past. This should be expanded to every level with the enhancement of mutual trust”, the Chinese President said, adding the mutual relations should be expanded to the government, people’s and party-level.

“The scope and dimension of mutual relations should be taken ahead at the political level as being the two communist parties,” he said.

The Chinese President made it clear that the CPC came to this position not only because of power gained since 1949 but also of discipline.

“Communist party must focus on discipline, upon which socialism can be ensured. There are also the challenges to cope up with in terms of relations between Nepal despite having several positive aspects. We should study properly. I indicated these in my speech yesterday as well,” he reiterated.

On the occasion, Chairman Dahal said, “We want to be benefitted from Chinese development. We believe that Nepal and Nepalis will reap benefits from it. We wish you further strengthened the socialism under your able leadership.”

Also present during the meeting held at the hotel the Chinese President stayed, senior leaders and former Prime Ministers Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, NCP secretariat member and Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, leader Bam Dev Gautam, Spokesperson Shrestha, General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

President Xi had however separate meeting with Chairman Dahal after the collective meeting.

The discussions have taken place at the level of the two parties as President Xi is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. NCP and the Communist Party of China had signed an agreement in Kathmandu on September 24 on the expansion of mutual relations between the two parties.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, other leaders and Ambassador of China to Nepal, Hou Yanqi were present during the meeting.
