Rape case against Julian Assanege reopened

STOCKHOLM: Prosecutors in Sweden have reopened an investigation into a rape case against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assanege who was evacuated from Ecuadorean in London last month and was sentenced to 50 weeks in jail for breaching his bail conditions.

The inquiry has been revived at the request of the alleged victim’s lawyer, BBC reported.

Assange has been denying the charges. The case was dropped two years ago ‘as the case can’t be taken forward while Assange remained inside the Ecuadorean embassy.’

The US is seeking his extradition from the UK over his alleged role in releasing classified military and diplomatic materials.
