KATHMANDU: Nepal is taking on China in its opening match of the Asian Games cricket qualifiers today (Sunday). The match, being held in Singapore, is scheduled to begin at 7:15 am Nepal time.
The top two teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the Asian Games. Nepal has been placed in a group alongside China and Malaysia.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 12-member squad for the qualifiers under the captaincy of Dipendra Singh Airee. The Nepali team arrived in Singapore a few days ago and has completed two days of training ahead of its opening fixture against China.
Nepal will be aiming to top the group and secure qualification for the Asian Games.
Besides captain Airee, the squad includes Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Rohit Paudel, Sundeep Jora, Kushal Malla, Lokesh Bam, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Arif Sheikh, Shahab Alam and Bhim Sarki.
