SC stays govt decision to cancel contract with UTL



KATHMANDU: Supreme Court has stayed the government’s decision to cancel the contract awarded to Untied Telecom Ltd. to lay optical fiber in Province 4 and 5.

Three days after the NEA cancelled the contract, UTL had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court.

Hearing the petition, a single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari issued an interim order staying the NEA’s decision to immediately cancel the contract.

NEA had signed a contract worth Rs 2. 1 billion with UTL to lay fibers. According to the agreement, the work should have been completed within two years.
