Graft-accused ex-govt employee commits suicide in Nepal



KATHMANDU: A corruption-accused former government employee has committed suicide. District Police Office, Udayapur said that former Nayab Subba Hari Prasad Acharya, 55, of Triyuga Municipality-10 hanged himself to death penning a suicide note on Saturday night.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had dragged Acharya to Special Court on the charge of transferring ownership of government land to a company illegally. Acharya had worked as Nayab Subba at the Land Revenue Office, Kalanki.

In the suicide note addressed to CIAA Chief Navin Kumar Ghimire, Acharya mentioned that he is not a big corrupt and wished Ghimire lives for 200 years.

The anti-graft body had filed a graft case against seven persons including Acharya for transferring ownership of community forest to a housing company illegally.
