Kathmandu metropolis employee held on rape charge



KATHMANDU: A staffer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been arrested on the alleged charge of raping an 11-year-old girl.

Acting on a complaint by the victim, police on Sunday nabbed a 52-year-old Baburaj Pujari of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-17 from Anamnagar. “Pujari, the senior employee among sweepers  of the Kathmandu metropolis, has been arrested for raping a minor,” DSP Hobindra Bogati confirmed.

“The suspected victim underwent a medical checkup and that the report confirmed that she was raped. Now she is undergoing counseling and treatment,” said Bogati.

Metropolitan Police Circle, Janasewa, Kathmandu is investigating Pujari taking him on a seven-day remand.
