Beni-Jomsom road obstructed

BENI: The Beni-Jomsom road has been obstructed for the last four days.

Traffic along the road has been halted since Sunday after a section of the road leading to Jomsom has been swept away by a landslide near Ghoptebhir bordering Myagdi and Mustang districts.

Meanwhile, the Kaligandaki River has also swept away the foundation of the road on a stretch of 10 meters in Ghoptebhir.

Preparations, however, have been initiated to open a new track on the steep cliff at the area.

Indraman Sherchan, Supervisor of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project, informed that they are planning to open the track using explosives.

Sherchan stated that works are underway to repair the road.

Passengers going towards Mustang are compelled to get off the vehicle and take a new vehicle.
