Monsoon increases risk of landslides and floods

KATHMANDU: With the monsoon becoming active, the risk of floods and landslides has increased. Meanwhile, the concerned bodies have been alert to preempt the possible natural disasters to be caused by the incessant rains.

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), light to heavy rains will occur in most of the places of the country for some days.

“Kathmandu Valley is fully cloudy,” Manju Basi, a meteorologist, said, adding, “The weather is partly cloudy in most of the places.”

Butwal witnessed highest rainfall with 62 milliliters in the last 24 hours, followed by 42 milliliters in Biratnagar.
