Haiti paralyzed by the Opposition’s strike



PORT-AU-PRINCE: Port-au-Prince, the Capital city, remains paralyzed in view of a two-day strike launched by opposition leaders.  Schools, businesses and government offices were closed down as demonstrators blocked roads and set piles of tires ablaze.

Public transport remained suspended and officials postponed a Parliament session. The strike began a day after Police cracked down on protesters and reportedly killed two people and injured five.

At least 14 ex- government officials allegedly misused 3.8 billion US dollars under the administration of former President Michel Martially, discloses a recently conducted Senate probe. Government officials are under fresh accusations leveled against them.
