‘Locals received 321 citizenship cards in Saptari’

SAPTARI: Locals have received 321 citizenship cards by descent  from the district administration office (DAO), Saptari in the last 20 days.

Among those receiving the citizenship cards are 229 males and 92 are females, according to the office. They received 220 citizenship cards from District Administration Office, 98 from Area Administration Office, Kanchanpur and three from Bodebarsain, said Chief District Officer Anand Thakur.

The distribution of citizenship had been halted from March 9 until April 16 following the stay order issued by the Supreme Court.

The card distribution resumed  from April 17. The government had stopped distributing citizenship cards by descent from May 7.
