NC, RJP lawmakers obstruct HoR proceedings

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday was marred by protests from Nepali Congress (NC) and Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) lawmakers.

They obstructed the proceedings by surrounding the ‘well’ in front of the Speaker chanting slogans calling for the protection of human rights. The opposition party lawmakers obstructed the sessions arguing that reply furnished by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa about the Sarlahi incident in Tuesday’s HoR meeting was not satisfactory.

The opposition lawmakers did not go back to their seats even as the Speaker announced the commencement of the parliamentary proceedings. The House of Representatives will meet at 11 am on Thursday.
