Prosperity possible only with easy access to drinking water: Minister Magar

DHADING: Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar has said that prosperous Nepal is only achievable by ending the compulsion of fetching drinking water.

While inaugurating Chainpur Drinking Water Project in Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality in the district on Monday, Minister Magar said the country can head towards prosperity only if women become capable and self-reliant.

“Although the project looks small, it holds high strategic significance. The compulsion of women here to fetch water every morning has ended with the completion of the drinking water project,” she said.

On the occasion, she said that the government was working to ensure clean drinking water to all within the coming three years.

She added that access to clean drinking water is guaranteed by the constitution and the government was working to implement it.

Some 161 households will benefit from the drinking water project constructed at an investment of Rs 10.34 million.
