ECN consulting with political parties on NA elections today



KATHMANDU: Election Commission Nepal is holding a meeting with the concerned political parties on the elections of the National Assembly (NA) at 11 am today.

With the completion of the Federal, Provincial and Local by-elections, the ECN is making preparations to hold the elections of the Upper House.

“The ECN is holding a meeting with major political parties at 11 am today to hold elections of the National Assembly,” said Rajkumar Shrestha, the spokesperson of the ECN.

The term of 19 lawmakers including Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada of the National Assembly (NA) is expiring on March 3 next year.

The term of 19 lawmakers of the 59-member National Assembly is expiring on March 3, 2020.

Eighteen among the 19 lawmakers will be appointed through elections while the remaining one will be nominated by the President on the recommendation of the government.
