Office bearers’ appointment thru power-sharing must be ended

KATHMANDU: With the terms of office bearers at seven universities expiring in a month, perspective candidates have started knocking the doors of leaders’ houses and party offices.

The universities are mired in unruliness and corruption due to the political intervention and power sharing on the appointment of office bearers among the parties.

Vice Chancellors, registrars, deans, department heads, campus chiefs are appointed based on power sharing among the parties, according to the existing trend. Experts have suggested ending such trends to eliminate the existing corruption and unruliness from the universities.
