S.Korea, U.S. to hold annual defense ministers’ talks next week



SEOUL: Defense ministers of South Korea and the United States will hold their annual security talks in Seoul next week, Seoul’s defense ministry said Friday.

South Korean Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper will hold the 51st Security Consultative Meeting (SCM) next Friday at the headquarters of the South Korean defense ministry in Seoul.

During the meeting, the ministers will discuss various security issues, including security situations on the Korean Peninsula, the conditions-based transfer of the wartime operational control of South Korean troops from Washington to Seoul, future security cooperation, and the relocation and return of U.S. military bases in South Korea.
