NEPALGUNJ: An aircraft of Buddha Air hit a wild boar while it was landing at Nepalgunj Airport on Tuesday evening.
After the incident, the airport officials have said that they have directed the concerned contractors, who have been entrusted to carry out up-gradation works of the airport, to adopt cautions to stop such incidents happening in the days to come.
A wild boar struck against the rear wheels of the aircraft while it was landing at 6:25 pm.
The wild boar died but the passengers were safe and the aircraft did not sustain any damages. The wild boar had scuttled over to the runway from a nearby bush when the aircraft was about to land.
Concerned officials say the incident has brought the danger that can be caused by wild animals at the major airport in western Nepal to surface.
Airport officials said they have spotted some eight to ten wild boars at the airport as the bushes have grown.
Banke Chief District Officer Kumar Bahadur Khadka said that the attention of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has been drawn for maintaining cleanliness at the airport.
