Suspension bridge inaugurated

TAMGHAS: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista on Tuesday inaugurated Hastichaur suspension bridge linking wards 1 and 2 of Isma rural municipality in Gulmi.

Inaugurating the bridge built over Chhinuwa Dhartifant Chhaldi Rivulet, he said the government was effortful to address the basic needs of the people such as drinking water, school education, women entrepreneurship, and safe shelter. Locals are elated with the bridge construction as it will ease their movement whether that be the school for education or forest for collecting fodder and firewood.

Meena Kumal, a local, commented that the bridge will be very helpful for them, especially during the rainy season. “It was very risky to cross big rivulets to reach the paddy field in the rainy season. The operation of the bridge has given us a big respite”, she added.

The Birat-Annapurna JV has constructed the bridge having a length of 304 meters. As shared, the suspension bridge has the capacity to bear 656 people. Chura Khatry, ward 1 chair, informed that the bridge was constructed under the aegis of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Roads, Suspension Bridge Division, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
