One dead, nine hurt in Surkhet jeep accident

SURKHET: One was killed in a jeep accident at Ratanagla of Birendranagar municipality-14 in Surkhet on Sunday morning.

The District Police Office,  Surkhet confirmed the death of Surendra Kumar Shahi, 25, of  Hima rural municipality-1, Jumla in the accident involving the jeep, Bhe 1 Ja 1084, en route to Jumla from Nepalgunj.

Nine including the driver were rescued following the accident.  Of them, two have been severely injured and they are Dhananda Pandey and Dharma Dutta Devkota, 29, of Gothichaur rural municipality-4, Jumla.

They are being treated at the  Karnali State Hospital Kalagaun. According to DPO’s spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabi Rawal, the jeep fell some 100 meters down from the road after the driver lost control over it.

Others injured are Nanda Rawal, 18, Nirmal Rawal, 17, and Prakash Rawal, 18, of Chandannath municipality, Jumla; Lokendra Jaishi, 26, Hari Chandra Neupane, 35, and Bhawani Prasad Pandey,63 of Gothichaur rural municipality-4, and Govinda Singh, 31, of Bheriganga municipality-12, Surkhet.  They are under treatment at the Birendranagar-based Maya Nursing Home.
